Practice Doing Mundane Tasks Really Well
Every day we have tasks that we have to do no matter what. In other words, these tasks become mundane; tasks we do because we are just going through the motions. For example, when I get home from work every single day, I start cooking supper. Then after supper, I clean up the kitchen and do any other chores that need to be done. Many days I am so tired from working all day, that I just go through the motions by doing these tasks and don’t even try to do these tasks really well. By just going through the motions, we miss the opportunity to do mundane tasks really well; being in the moment fully when you do an even small task.
Now, I’m not talking about being a perfectionist or having OCD. I am talking about being fully present and thorough when you cook, clean, or even brush your teeth. Slowing down a little, to do each task very well; thorough. When we slow down, we pay closer attention to what is in front of us; we savor it. The same can be done when eating.
Cleaning is one of those tasks I like to do thoroughly. Because I love cleaning, I love cleaning products. Eco-friendly products have become more and more important to me. I have been transitioning to more eco-friendly products like Method household cleaners as I use up some of my older cleaners.
What are some ways you can do the mundane tasks really well? What are your mundane tasks?
Have a great day!!
