The 35 Day Consistency Challenge

Hi friends! I have been seeing different challenges going on all over Instagram and You Tube called the “consistency challenge” or a “that girl” way of living. I love both of these and have thoroughly enjoyed watching the reels and videos of people doing the challenge everyday. Since I am not really doing videos yet, I thought I would blog about it.

I’m gonna give it try for 35 days. Some people are doing it for 60 days, but I am going to stick with 35 days to start. Why 35 days you say? To get me over the 30 day hump and to show myself it can be done. Kind of like in the movie Top Gun: Maverick where Tom Cruise goes over Mach 9 to Mach 10, and then just beyond to Mach 10.4. Push the limit. Push to your potential and beyond. Why does everything have to be 30 days; why not 35!!

Speaking of the “that girl” way of living, it appeals to me so so much, but am I too old for a “that girl” way of living? I think not! Even though I am now 41, I still want to be my best self, which is the idea behind both of these challenges.

The idea behind the “that girl” and the consistency challenge, is to daily be consistent with certain things in order to achieve something or better yourself. All of the items I plan doing during this challenge are all things I have not mastered, achieved, or stayed consistent with. (But I really want to train myself to be consistent with them). I have become more consistent with watching what I eat and drink more, but I want to take it to the next level.

Over the past few weeks, I have proven that it can be done. I have lost 15.4 pounds since Thanksgiving, with majority of those pounds lost within the last month since becoming more serious about getting healthy. I have proven to myself that it is possible. And it will be possible for you too.

Something I noticed about the consistency challenges is that they all picked 5 things to start with. Commit to those 5 things for 30 days, then you can add another 5 or a different set of 5 to do for another 30 days. So I am going to pick 5 things I have really been wanting to do and incorporate into my life, but have not been diligent in doing them consistently.

Here are my 5 things to do during my consistency challenge/”that girl” challenge:
1. Wake up at 5:45am
2. Walk on treadmill every morning
3. Drink 64oz (1 jug) every day
4. Count calories every day and record in My Fitness Pal(track to lose weight)
5. Do MWH pilates workout every night

So there they are. I am going to add one more that will be separate from the five above…and that is to post consistently for 35 days on my blog and all my other social media outlets. I’ve struggled to be consistent because I know people aren’t reading my blog. But I am trying to find my voice through it. I love to write, I always have, and I love all the topics I want this blog to be about. As I write this, I am listening to Anson Seabra, because I have found I write better to music. So, having said that, maybe my number 7 needs to be to write everyday.

If you are like me, an over-achiever, you will do exactly what I just did and think of so many things you can work on. So the 5 above are personal, and the 2 in the paragraph above, are for my brand. Please join along on the challenge if you like. Day 1 starts today, or any day you want to designate as your start day. I will be blogging 1 day behind so I can share how I did the day before. So on Tuesday I will share Day 1, so on and so forth. Let me know in the comments how things are going and what your 5 or more things you are working on for your own challenge. I will post everyday here and on Instagram stories on how it is going. Discipline….we all need more of it, and this is a great way to work on it. Good luck!
