Blogger Spotlight: Meghan Donovan of Wit & Whimsy

A few weeks ago, I started thinking about highlighting entrepreneurs, business owners, influencers, bloggers, magazines, books, authors, and products on this platform. Simply because I really want to give an applause and credit to so many great people out there who are creating content. I don’t want this blog to only be about me, but about so many other people and pieces of content. So every Monday, a “Spotlight” will be featured on here. Each week it will be a different “genre”, so to say, or area, that I will feature.

I love reading blogs, magazines, newspapers, books, listen to music, observe brands, products, and so many other things. It is my belief that everyone has something good to offer the world. Be it interviews, articles, memoirs, music, you name it. We all have a place in this world. It’s finding what we are good at, and building on that, day by day.

A favorite pastime or hobby of mine, is learning from other entrepreneurs or inspiring individuals. That may be through podcasts, books, magazines, blogs, newsletters. Each day, I look for tips and tricks to make my life better. In fact, I have collected tips and tricks for years. Since I was about 12 years old. It is my hope that somehow I can incorporate daily tips and inspiration through this blog, to my readers. I don’t want this blog to be only about me.

So to begin, this week, for the first Spotlight, is the blogger Meghan Donovan creator of the blog Wit & Whimsy. Her blog is a beautifully photographed lifestyle blog mainly about fashion and beauty, and travel, and as she states on her blog, “Toasts Elevated Living”. She has an adjoining website and brand called Paris, Perfected, along with another new adjoining brand called London, Perfected.

According to her website, she created her blog in 2006, to really expand on her passions. Those passions including beauty, fashion, and travel. She has lived in several places, but currently lives in NYC.

One of the things that inspired me about her, is that the content she creates, is for any woman who loves fashion, beauty, and travel. That is her niche, and I love it!

During the pandemic, she did dip her toes into cocktail videos on her Instagram, which were so neat. (Bring them back Meghan!). She also sometimes share recipes or meals she has cooked that she loves. And speaking of food, for her travel content, she always shares good places to get croissants in Paris. Food is always a large part of her travel content, and she can find some of the best looking food in Paris, London, and even New York. I long to travel just for the food when I watch her Instagram Stories.

I wanted to break down a little more of all the things I love about her blog. Let’s just start with talking about her impeccable chic style. With her love for Paris, she naturally has a very good sense of style. Very chic. Her outfits always seem so balanced, which is something I am very big on. She has a lot of neutral colors in her closet, but as a Francophile, she probably lives by the Capsule Closet method or idea. When you have staple pieces, that can mixed and match, you can create what would seem like an unlimited amount of outfits. A simple white dress can be paired with a cardigan, sport coat, button up tied at the bottom, a scarf, or even just plain.

If you find that you really love her style and would love to purchase some of the closet items she has, you can go to her shop on her website. On the shop page of her blog, she has all the items she finds to be tried and true, and thinks you would love too.

Clean Beauty and Clean Skincare is another area she delves into on her blog as well. Comparisons of different products she has tried are explained in detail in blog posts, so you make more informed decisions when you purchase skin care. She also shares beauty tutorials on Instagram or GRWM videos that I just love. (Why do we love those GRWM videos so much?! I don’t know but keep ’em coming!). Some of my favorite content she shares is the “empties” from the beauty products she has used up.

She is also a big advocate for wearing sunscreen daily. Here is a blog post about her sunscreen journey and tips for using sunscreen. As you can tell by her photos, she is fair complected. I heard on a podcast not long ago, that she had a run with skin cancer. When I heard that, I knew I had to listen up. I am so glad I did. She is a daily sunscreen girlie now. Being a firm believer in sunscreen, even if you aren’t fair complected, and don’t burn, you still need to make wise sunscreen choices.

Moving on to her travel content. She is the founder of Paris, Perfected and the newly founded London, Perfected. I must say, her travel photos are just breathtaking. I don’t know what kind of camera she uses, but she has an incredible eye for capturing the right angle photo of a building, a croissant, a piece of history. It is my hope that one day I will go to Paris or London, and will use her trip planning recommendations. Paris and even London are two places I have always wanted to go to. Italy has always been on my list as well, so another win if she chooses to add maybe a Tuscany, Perfected to her travel repertoire.

If you want to follow Meghan’s blog or her Instagram, I am sure she will be delighted. Go give her platforms a look, and you won’t want to leave her site. Many evenings when I am needing to calm my nerves, I will open up my laptop and read a few of her blogs. Her writing is soothing, I think, and very detailed and informative. She is truly an inspiration, and someone I would love to connect with someday.

Stay tuned for next week, as I delve into our next Spotlight. It is a magazine that I know to be good and full of joy. A hint: Pioneer. That’s all I’m gonna say, but I bet you can guess. So come back next week for the next Spotlight.

Have a great first day of your week!!
