DNF’ing A Book
So what constitutes me DNF’ing a book? What should constitute anyone DNF’ing a book? A reading rut, and sometimes it’s just not the right time for me to read a that book if I can’t get into it, or I can’t devote time to it. Let me expand on that.
I find myself in a reading rut quite a bit, especially if I am just not satisfied with anything I’m reading. I like to try and expand my horizons by reading other genres, etc, and that can often times make me dissatisfied. But I like to be a well-read person in various areas.
Some genres are harder for me to read than others, or may take longer, or may require more of my undivided attention. For example, a love story like The Wedding Party by Jasmine Guillory is a quick read, while War & Peace by Leo Tolstoy would be a longer and more time consuming read.
I can honestly say, I have DNF’d quite a few books, with all intentions to go back and read when I’m in the mood. Do I like DNFing books? Absolutely not. But I think we all have this problem sometimes. A lot of times it takes a while to get into a book, and sometimes I get impatient.
For this little blog, I am going to avoid DNFing a book, because I think about all I have missed out on by missing the end of a book. Maybe I should have called this a reading rut, but I will say that a reading rut is the root cause of DNFing, for me at least.
Currently I am reading Such a Bad Influence by Olivia Muenter. So far it is so so good and I am loving it. Check back at the beginning of August for a blog post of what I read in July, where I will give my review of the book and rating.
Why do you DNF a book? Do you have DNF rules you go by before you x-nay a book?
Happy reading!!
