A Few Outfits From This Past Week

Getting dressed every morning is one of my favorite things. Well, actually putting together an outfit and wearing it is one of my favorite things. Just the process of styling an outfit, for any occasion really, is becoming more thought out and ritualistic for me.

When I am choosing an outfit now, I am thinking about balance more than anything. Never too much of any one thing. Not too many rings, not too many statement pieces, bling paired with plain, on and on. I am finding that being very selective in the choosing of my outfits, brings me much pleasure and more content with the choices I have made.

Using your clothes as a tool, rather than just something you have to wear everyday, allows for more creativity. More flexibility.

This yellow and black top is actually a dress by H&M, that I am wearing as a top over black leggings, black boots, and khaki vest.

I balanced out the loudness of the top/dress with this very minimal vest. The vest made the loudness of the top/dress a little less loud, and more chill. I loved wearing this outfit as it made me feel very confident.

Black Levi’s, a striped long sleeve tee, khaki cardigan, and Converse Shoes.

Here is another outfit that I tried to really balance out. I love these Levi’s jeans. They were very comfortable. That’s one thing about this entire outfit, it was very comfortable. From the cotton tee, and the comfort and feel of a cardigan, all while wearing Converse Shoes (which are super comfortable in my book).

Notice the cardigan dresses up the outfit a little, but the shoes balance the dressiness to keep it cool and chill. Not too overdone in one way.

Liz Sport Shoes, JCrew Jeans, and this sheer top with a blag long sleeve under it.

A little more on the boring side this day, but still balanced. I really like to strive for not over-doing anything. I used to wear rings on every finger. Now I usually wear only one on each hand, or 1 additional, making it 3 max. Very rarely will I wear 4 rings.

Green hooded jacket, Puerto Rico tee, nylon joggers, white sandals

Creativity and using my clothes as tools, played a big role in this outfit. Let’s start with the joggers. Notice at the bottom, they look scrunched. Well, they are straight let joggers, not gathered at the bottom. So to make them gathered looking and even more scrunched, I took a hair scrunchy, and put over my foot and onto my ankle. I then started rolling the pant legs up with the scrunchy. I must say, the scrunchy worked and it wasn’t an overly tight rubber band, that feels likes its cutting off circulation.

As you can see, it isn’t hard to balance your outfits. Use what you already have in your closet. Use your clothes, your wardrobe and accessories, as tools to create a unique to you outfit. I get excited when I think about putting outfits together.

Well, have a great night.
