Why I Started This Blog

Today’s post is more of a journal entry type blog post. I am going to share why I started this blog and what I want to achieve with it. But let me first say, I have wanted to start a blog since 2012. If only I had started then, I would be so far with it. However, I believe things happen for a reason and in their own time, and that stands true for this blog. So I am thankful I started it when I did back in 2020 and not any time before.

Why a blog though? Well, first of all, I love love to write. I have loved writing since 6th grade when our teacher had the class start journaling. I’ve loved it since then and journaled off and on throughout the years. In college, my strength was in writing papers. Test taking was not my strength for sure, but I could write a paper for sure.

Reading and subscribing to blogs over the years has become something I love to read. My email is full of blogs and newsletters, and now Substacks, I subscribe to. I have several favorites, but I still continue to look for new up and coming blogs that I hadn’t subscribed to before.

The blog market is pretty saturated, but it is still something I want to do and succeed at. I have a strong desire to create something of my very own, that I own, and that I grow in the evenings after work. Yes, I work a full-time job also, aside from this little blog. I hope to grow this blog and build a community of like-minded people. I am excited to network with other bloggers and influencers as I continue to grow.

One thing I am really trying to work on is keeping the commitments I make to myself. In other words, I really want to use this also as a good way to keep myself accountable. When I say I want to do something, I want to do it. When you create something on your own, it’s up to you to keep yourself motivated and follow through. That is my goal with this blog.

It has always been kind of a struggle over the years, to be disciplined and follow through with things. But I desire to be meticulously disciplined. If I say I’m gonna exercise everyday, I am gonna do it. Period. So, hopefully this blog helps keep me accountable.

I also hope to meet new people and build a community here that has the same interests as me. We all have a voice, and we all can learn from one another.
