Spring Is Here and the Flowers Are Blooming
After a long Winter and many cold days and nights, it is so refreshing to see the grass turn green, the temperatures get warmer, and the flowers start blooming. Every year, it seems I don’t realize how long Winter is until Spring starts peeking through, and then it hits me how wonderful it is to have Spring show up again.
I live in the Midwest, so we experience all the seasons. But unfortunately, the two best seasons, Spring and Fall, are the shortest it seems. But they do show up, and when they do, I begin my seasonal rituals.
On Sunday, I planted my herb garden seeds. I have raised beds that my husband made me last year. I grew all kinds of herbs and also grew some peppers, and they all thrived. I couldn’t believe how well everything did.

This year, several herbs came back on their own (lavender, thyme, oregano, sage, and parsley). So I only had to fill in a few of the other herbs I like (cilantro, basil, dill, and chives). My friend gave me some mint, so I planted that also, and it is looking great (I wasn’t sure if it would do good because it is transplanted, but it looks great!).
I also have been planting and transplanting(flowers and bulbs my friend brought me) over the past few weeks, to go in my flowers beds in the front of my house.

I am very grateful to my friend for sharing some of her beautiful plants with me. She has a great green thumb and can grow anything. It is one of my pleasures talking plants and gardening with her when we get a few minutes to talk.
Friday I got a whole flat of peppers from my co-worker, who was giving them away to whoever would take them. So I’ve got to plant them this weekend. They are going to be container vegetables. I’ll post updates on them throughout the season.
Do you have a garden or flower garden? What are you planting this year?
