Wellness Practices to Incorporate Into Your everyday Life

In my continual effort to focus on health and wellness, I am incorporating some wellness practices into my life. The goal is to do them everyday, but that doesn’t always happen. Habit stacking them into my day may be a better way to be sure to get them in everyday. It is so worth it when I do them, because I feel so much better.

While there are many wellness tools and practices out there that I am not going to discuss in this post (simply because I haven’t tried them yet), I am going to discuss several to get you going that are fairly inexpensive and easy to do that I think you will really see some benefits. Your self care is you well care. I consider these wellness practices a very nourishing self care ritual for myself. It’s like treating your body, mind, and soul with calming beauty.

  • Drink water with lemon. Lemon is detoxifying, can help to prevent cancer, can help to curb your appetite, and is a diuretic (source). Whether you use real lemons or lemon juice in a bottle, the benefits are both good. I love drinking lemon water because it flavors the water just enough without any added sugars.
  • Dry brush before showering, everyday. Not only does dry brushing feel oh so good, it also makes your skin look good. This is a practice I want to do more of. This GOOP article talks about how to do dry brushing properly, and the benefits of dry brushing. The biggest benefit that peaked my interest was it helps remove toxins from your body and improves circulation. As you age, this is so important.
  • Do gua she everyday to tone down the wrinkles, prevent future wrinkles, and as a form of lymphatic drainage. Gua sha is really a facial massage that does lymphatic drainage. I use jade facial massage stones. They work great. But when you use a gua sha stone, use a facial oil to prevent pulling of the face. And always always start from the corner of nose or mouth rubbing outwards but upwards. Always go upwards. Never rub your face down. Gravity pulls everything down enough as you age. So rub outwards up. Lauryn is a great resource for learning how to gua sha.
  • Get in movement everyday, and pilates is a great way to get in movement that is not too harsh for your body. My favorite classes are by MWH, through a monthly subscription. These are my favorite workouts.
  • Meditations are also available on MWH if you get her monthly subscription. So one subscription will get you 2 different wellness classes everyday. I never thought I would pull the plug and join a monthly subscription, but I have never been disappointed.
  • After seeing a few people on social doing the yoga pose Viparita Karani, which is laying on your back with your legs up the wall, I decided I had to investigate and try this out. Obviously, it would help with swelling in the feet and ankles, but it also helps with insomnia, anxiety, and headaches. There are also some cardiovascular benefits I wasn’t expecting.
  • The Queen of ice rolling is where to go find out all about how to ice roll. While I don’t have the TSC Ice Roller yet, I did find a less expensive one for now so I could try out this phenomenon. Let me just say, I love it. Just like you gua sha in inside to outwards upwards motion you do the same with the ice roller. It reduces puffiness and swelling in the face, prevents wrinkles, and shapes your face. Oh and it feels amazing!

So, there you have it, seven different wellness practices I am adopting daily into your everyday life. Let me know in the comments if you try any of these and any wellness practices you may have.
