Age 12. That was the age I remember starting to really pay attention to fashion, how I dressed, watching models, and started reading magazines like Teen, Seventeen, YM, InStyle, and Glamour. I would devour those magazines; loved everything Julia Roberts and Tyra Banks did; and was constantly going through my closet and seeing how many outfits I could make.

My mom loved clothes also, as did my Granny. My Granny sewed a lot of clothes and would make just about anything I asked her to make me to wear. I loved the process of finding the pattern, picking out the outfit, and then away to work she went. Stopping every little bit to measure. Granny should have been a fashion designer. She could literally make anything. She also made all my mom’s clothes she wore as a kid and teenager back in the 60s and 70s.

Then Clueless came out and I thought that someone had literally made a movie of my dream life. I wanted to be Cher so bad. Her closet was the dream. That movie inspired me to try to wear a different outfit to school every single day for 1 whole school year. I taped a piece of lined loose leaf paper to my wall and wrote down the date and the outfit each day, so I wouldn’t repeat it. I succeeded. I remember the movie came out while I was in 7th grade, so this time frame was 7th or 8th grade. I remember a girl at school said to that I could be a model because I wear a different outfit everyday. Well, never became a model, but my love for clothes and fashion would continue to live on.

So, back to the title which is the question, what is it about fashion I love so much?

I love fabrics, the design of the fabrics, and all the details of the fabrics.
I love how clothes hang in a closet when they are neatly hung.
I love how clothes will cheer you up and make you feel better because you look better.
I love how clothes give you a different look, like you could look safari one day and business like another day.
I love the endless possibilities and combinations.
I love how trends come and go and I ignore them for the most part and keep wearing what I love.
I love how each person’s personality can be determined simply by observing what they are wearing sometimes.
I love how the impression you want to make can be helped with what you wear.
I love the design of the clothes.
I love having options, and lots of them.
I love mixing and matching.
I love reading about fashion.
I love learning new fashion hacks.
I love the beauty of clothing.
I love playing dress-up.
I love that I can always try again with another outfit tomorrow.
